Dexter learns that his biological father, Joe Driscoll, whom he was told had died thirty years ago, has recently died and left everything to Dexter, including his house. Dexter travels to the house with Rita and packs its contents. Later, Debra and Rudy arrive at the house to help out. Dexter gets on well with Rudy, but suspects there is something strange about Joe Driscoll’s death, and about the identity of Dexter’s biological mother. Rudy is insistent about attending the weekend trip, and one of Joe’s neighbors thinks that Rudy looks familiar. Flashbacks to Dexter’s childhood show him questioning his foster father Harry (James Remar) about his real parents, and Dexter finds that Mr. Driscoll donated some of his blood to the young Dexter for surgery. Meanwhile, Paul begins to slide back into his old habits when he suspects Rita is preventing him from having unsupervised visits to their children.
